About Neighbourhoods

Neighbourhood brings together everything that matters locally: find trustworthy service providers, see recommendations from neighbours, place classified adverts, chat on the forum and discover events in your area – all in one place.

Our idea

These days, a lot happens far away and anonymously. We believe in the opposite: in the neighbourhood right on our doorstep. That’s why we’re building a portal that’s useful at a local level – clearly laid out, with ad-free search results and no excessive data collection. The service is across Germany set up; we started with the pilot in Mainz and are growing city by city.

What we stand for

Transparency. ‘Verified’, ‘Recommended by neighbours’ and ‘Sponsored’ are strictly separated – paid listings never affect the ranking.

Data minimisation. We collect as little data as possible and do not display the home addresses of private individuals. Uploaded images are cropped during the upload process.

Fairness. It’s free to use. Classified adverts and contacts are handled directly between individuals – we do not process any payments.

Who is behind it

‘Neighbourhood’ is a project run by OKAU UG (haftungsbeschränkt) from Mainz. Details in the Imprint.
